Active Super yacht Captain/Engineer with over 23 years of experience as a professional Captain/Engineer, achieving a very successful career in the Yachting Industry with proven longevity.

9 years on a charter vessel, managing company interests as well as providing an excellent service, with many returning clients and superb reviews.

Privately and Commercially cruised throughout the Northern hemisphere, including the Baltic, Scandinavian, Russian, Caribbean and Mediterranean seas, as well as the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.

Successfully managed various refits and projects, as well as new builds, with close collaboration with classification societies, surveyors. shipyards and specially owners.

2013 – 10/01/20 l M/Y Always Believe, 40m, Maiora                             

Position: Captain

Duties:

  • Full operation management of luxury yacht based in Mallorca, tasked with managing the vessel fully, guest and crew safety
  • Ensuring full equipment operation and readiness/seaworthiness
  • Liaising with external service providers and technical partners
  • Crew recruitment, training and development
  • Preparing vessel to the highest standards
  • System maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Successfully renewed the yachts R.I.N.A 5 and 10 year survey and annual interim

2013 l M/Y Mar, 50mts, Ortona Navi & M/Y Indigo Star, 40mts

Position: Relief Captain

  • Working on behalf of Fraser Yachts en M/Y Mar, tasked with provisionally taking over on a charter, whilst permanent captain was unavailable
  • Successfully managed a charter on Indigo Star in Ibiza, this was a relief position as well

 

2012 – 2013 M/Y Banyan III, 40mts Benetti Classic Motor Yacht

Position: Captain

Duties:

  • In this role, I worked with the owner from purchase old and tired charter vessel, and was tasked with refitting the vessel completely right through from the engine room, interior design to external finish.
  • The vessel was also passed from ABS classification to Lloyds, increasing its standard and value.
  • Successfully updated commercial certifications of MCA to have the possibility of chartering.
  • Cruised over 3000 nm in the Mediterranean within a year (including a 3 month refit in between) including Turkey, Greece, Italy, France, Malta, Spain and North Africa
  • The owners used this yacht privately and it was a source of great enjoyment for all involved

2010 – 2012 M/Y Panakeia, 47m, Astondoa                                            

Position: Captain

Duties:

  • Full operational oversight and management of private use vessel based in the Mediterranean
  • Vessel safety management,
  • System management, ensuring all technical systems onboard are meeting required standards
  • Crew training and development
  • This vessel was a very advanced motor yacht, built by Astondoa in 2008. I was involved in the refit of vessel in Turkey
  • The vessel was classified by German Lloyds, constantly surveyed to commercial standards over 500 tons

2001 – 2010 M/Y Irina, 35m, Picchiotti

Position: Captain/ Engineer

Duties:

  • Full charter vessel with full MCA qualifications and standing ISM. Full operational oversight of a busy yacht cruising the Mediterranean
  • Crew management, training and safety, ensuring the highest service standards across the vessel
  • Technical oversight of all marine systems, liaising with technical partners and suppliers
  • Successfully overseen a full vessel refit including, engine room, AC, new generators and bridge control systems. Additionally overseen internal furniture and internal decoration
  • The vessel was financial run from its charter income and It was sold in 2008, achieving a sale price above its acquisition cost.
  • This was a challenging, rewarding role, involving a lot of planning and resource management
  • I remained with the owners, employed as a Project Manager involved in developing luxury real estate across Mallorca and mainland Spain

Sea Trials – 48m, S/Y Andromeda                                                                                    2001 – 2002

  • Successfully overseen numerous sea trials and reporting on behalf of different owners for the purchase of their yachts, this included sea trials on the S/Y Andromeda, 48m Perini Navi and other Perini Navi vessels
  • This role required travel to Perini Navi shipyards, Bennittis and similar in Italy. Also visited shipyards in New Zealand, Alloy Yachts.

M/Y Lucky Me, 24m, San Lorenzo                                                                        1995 – 2002

Position: Captain

Duties:

  • Private use, cruising the Mediterranean, Bahamas, Florida and the Canary Islands
  • Full operational management and control of vessel
  • Safety management and crew training, ensuring all crew are trained to the highest standards
  • I was directly involved in the planning and construction of this vessel, liaising with the shipyard in Italy and owners, ensuring the vessel was built to specification and troubleshooting any design and build issues

1995-1999 M/Y Majulema, 25m, PIcchiotti/ Bagglietto, Mediterranean                       

Position: Captain/ Engineer

Duties:

  • Total responsibility for vessel and crew safety, coordinating engineering and marine systems, ensuring seaworthiness
  • This was an award winning charter vessel, achieving “Charter Vessel of the Year 1997”, mainly cruising the Mediterranean
  • I worked hard on this vessel, helping it achieve one of the first legal charter vessels with a foreign flag
  • The vessel was sold after six years, following a successful return on owner investment

1991 – 1995 M/Y Falcao, 28m Displacement Vessel                                                                              

Position: Captain/ Engineer/ Crew

Duties:

  • Commencing my seagoing career in a crew position and promoted to Captain on a private use and charter vessel in the Med, North Sea and Baltic Sea (Sweden, Norway, Estonia and Russia
  • My time onboard this vessel allowed me to develop ‘hands on’ practical seafaring skills and experience in tandem with my training at Marine School
  • Successfully completed a long number of sea miles as the vessel was based in both Palma De Mallorca and the UK with summer cruises to the Baltic, Centre Stockholm Archipelago
  • This vessel was owned by the Belgian Royal Family, a beautiful vessel and a piece of art in its own right
